CARPE DIEM

Sonya Enokaeva is a Moscow-based artist whose practice grows through continuous learning and attentive observation of the world around her.

She studies with practicing artists and continues her education through books and the work of artists who came before her. She is not afraid to experiment or make mistakes. She trusts her practice and feels a powerful energy moving through her into the work.

She is drawn to the idea that a painting or drawing can be like a battery: the artist charges it with something of themselves, and the work then passes that charge on to the viewer.

Sonya looks at the world not only with her eyes, but with her heart. She loves it enough to find something worth noticing even in things that are not conventionally beautiful.
